Nick Bosa, defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers, made a memorable entrance during Brock Purdy’s postgame interview. After the team’s victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, he sported a Make America Great Again hat. He popped up behind Purdy, pointing to his hat while George Kittle chuckled as Bosa dashed back to the locker room.
"I'm not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time," Bosa stated after the game. His actions added to the few instances of NFL players openly supporting presidential candidates this election season.
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker also backed Trump earlier this year. Meanwhile, Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Thomas Booker IV has shown support for Vice President Kamala Harris.
The 49ers clinched a 30-24 victory, powered by an explosive 21-point third quarter. Bosa contributed significantly, recording three tackles, a sack, and three quarterback hits.
Going into the game, Bosa boasted impressive stats: 3.5 sacks and 25 tackles. With this win, the 49ers improved their record to 4-4 for the season.
Bosa’s support for Trump isn’t new. He has been a long-time supporter, even before joining the NFL. In 2019, he shared that he had cleaned up his X account.
He removed posts related to Trump and criticisms of Colin Kaepernick. Bosa feared that he might not be fully accepted by the city of San Francisco if he were drafted by the 49ers.
