A New York man was caught committing a despicable act on the grave of his ex-wife, according to a report from News 12.
Michael Murphy told News 12 that he began finding deli bags filled with human feces near his mother's headstone, Linda Torello.
Initially, Murphy thought maybe it was just from a dog walker and left there inadvertently. After a second bag was found they figured it was not an accident.
"We contacted the police," Murphy said to News 12. "They came and took a report, and they said, 'If you find another one, let us know.' So we found another one a couple of weeks later."
After it happened again Murphy was given permission to install cameras by the cemetery.
The camera captured video footage of the man coming to the gravestone at 6:15 a.m. daily for four days in a row. While the man visited the grave, his wife waited for him in the car.
On the fifth day, Murphy put the camera on a nearby headstone and was able to identify the man as his mother's ex-husband. Murphy told News 12 that the two divorced over four decades ago.
Orangetown police arrested a 68-year-old man and identified him as Dean Eichler. He left Tortello when she became pregnant and denied the child was his. DNA tests later revealed a different story.
