MSNBC Cancels Show in Major Network Shake-Up

MSNBC is pulling the plug on Joy Reid’s show. According to The New York Times, "The ReidOut" could be off the air as early as Monday.

Her 7 p.m. weekday slot will reportedly be replaced by a panel show. MSNBC hosts Symone Sanders-Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez are expected to take over. Alex Wagner’s show is also at risk, with Jen Psaki lined up as a replacement.

The move comes as MSNBC’s parent company shakes things up. The Wall Street Journal reported in November that MSNBC, CNBC, USA, and other channels are being spun off. MSNBC’s ratings plummeted 53% after Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election.

Reid has made headlines for her fiery rhetoric. On Nov. 5, she criticized "white women" for not backing Harris.

“In the end, if they didn’t make their numbers and essentially exceed the numbers that Joe Biden had in the suburbs, I think we have to be blunt about why. Black voters came through for Kamala Harris, white women voters did not,” she said.

She also gave Stacey Abrams airtime to slam Vice President J.D. Vance. In January, Abrams called Vance a “DEI graduate” during an appearance on Reid’s show.

MSNBC has long pushed the Trump-Russia collusion narrative. The network frequently hosted Adam Schiff, who made repeated claims about Trump’s 2016 campaign ties to Russia. The now-discredited Steele Dossier fueled much of that coverage.

Reid has been with MSNBC since 2016. She has anchored the 7 p.m. slot since 2020.
