Major Restaurant Chain Set to Close 36 'Underperforming' Locations Across the U.S.

TGI Fridays is closing 36 restaurants in the U.S. that are not doing well. This is part of a big change in the company.

The company said on Wednesday that they will help over 1,000 workers find new jobs in other places. This is good for most of the employees who will lose their jobs because of these closures.

In New Jersey, seven TGI Fridays restaurants are closing. Six are closing in Massachusetts. Five each in New York and Texas, and four in Virginia are also shutting down. Other states like California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, and New Hampshire will also see some closures.

The company is also selling eight of its restaurants to Ray Blanchette, who used to be the CEO.

Ray Risley, who leads TGI Fridays in the U.S., said that by closing these restaurants and making changes, they can make the company better for the future.

TGI Fridays has a new team of leaders. This includes CEO Weldon Spangler, who joined in October. He worked at Subway, Dunkin', Papa Murphy’s, and Starbucks before.

Spangler said this is a time of big change for TGI Fridays. They plan to grow and keep giving customers the special experience they love at Fridays.
