LeBron James Rips America, Backpedals and Claims He Wasn't 'Knocking Our Beautiful Country'

Turns out the only time LeBron James backpedals isn't when he's on the basketball court.

In the trailer for the latest episode of "The Shop: Uninterrupted," LeBron James questioned the efforts by American leadership to get Brittney Griner out of Russia. He also questioned if she would even want to come back.

"Now, how can she feel like America has her back? I would be feeling like, ‘Do I even wanna go back to America?’" James said.

Griner was arrested near a Russian airport for allegedly having hashish oil in a vape cartridge in her luggage. Last Thursday she plead guilty to the charges. Griner plays professionally in Russia during the WNBA offseason for extra money.

"My comments on ‘The Shop’ regarding Brittney Griner wasn’t knocking our beautiful country," James tweeted Tuesday night. "I was simply saying how she’s probably feeling emotionally along with so many other emotions, thoughts, etc inside that cage she’s been in for over 100+ days! Long story short #BringHerHome."

Griner's wife, Chelsea, spoke with President Biden earlier this week. The White House called to "reassure her that he is working to secure Brittney’s release as soon as possible, as well as the release of Paul Whelan and other U.S. nationals who are wrongfully detained or held hostage in Russia and around the world."

Why Do WNBA Players Play Overseas?

WNBA players play overseas because they don't make nearly as much money as their male counterparts. Griner makes around $220,000 per season, while NBA stars like LeBron make much more than that per game.

Why is that? There simply isn't nearly the same level of interest for WNBA when compared to NBA. Viewership and attendance are way down in the women's league and it is supplemented by the NBA so it is able to continue to run.

Many Ask Why This Hasn't Happened to Male Athletes

Many wokesters on the left complain this would never happen to males. Well, it actually has. In China. To the Ball brothers.

The Ball brothers were arrested in China for shoplifting from a Louis Vuitton store. President Trump stepped in and cleared the way for their release. Or if you watch CNN, they were already on their way to being released when Trump stepped in. Either way he played a much more active role in them being freed than Biden has for Griner.

Griner's Coach Said LeBron Would Be Rescued Much Quicker

While there is probably some truth to that, let's make one thing clear: LeBron James would not take an illegal weed vape pen to Russia. He probably wouldn't even go to Russia, but you get my point.
