Kevin O’Leary thinks Trump is going soft on China.
The “Shark Tank” star blasted the 104% tariff on Chinese imports. He says it’s not enough. In fact, he wants 400%.
O’Leary spoke on CNN, slamming China for unfair trade practices. “They cheat, they steal, they steal IP,” he said. “I can’t litigate in their courts.”
He posted the clip on X with a fiery caption. “104% tariffs on China are not enough. I’m advocating 400%,” he wrote. “They’ve been in the WTO for decades. They have never abided by any of the rules they agreed to when they came in for decades.”
O’Leary said he's fed up. “Nobody has taken on China yet,” he said. “Not the Europeans, no administration for decades.” He added, “As someone who actually does business there, I’ve had enough.”
He continued, “I speak for millions of Americans who have IP that have been stolen by the Chinese. 400% tariffs tomorrow morning!”
Trump announced Wednesday that he’s raising tariffs to 125%. It’s part of his “Liberation Day” plan. The move came after China retaliated.
“Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China… to 125%, effective immediately,” Trump posted on Truth Social. He said the days of ripping off the U.S. are over.
He also noted that more than 75 countries had reached out to negotiate. “I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE,” Trump said. He added a reduced 10% reciprocal tariff during the pause.
While others chose talks, China answered with more tariffs. They hit back with an 84% rate.
