MSNBC host Joy Reid made bold claims on her show Monday, accusing the "billionaire right" of wanting to drive non-White people out of California to turn it into an "apartheid" state.
During her opening monologue on "The Reid Out," Reid linked the devastating California wildfires, which have killed 24 people and scorched over 40,000 acres, to a deeper, more sinister agenda.
She alleged that "vulture capitalists" are targeting communities like Altadena, destroyed by the fires, to buy properties cheaply. According to Reid, this is part of a plan to reshape California with "ugly right-wing policies."
"They can drive out the Brown people and the Black and Asian people," she said. "Or sink them into the same apartheid they’ve created in Texas." Reid warned this could secure enough electoral votes to dominate future presidential elections.
Altadena, ravaged by the Eaton Fire, has been left in ruins. Fox News Digital reported the town’s homes, businesses, and vehicles were largely reduced to ash, forcing thousands to flee.
Reid also accused Republicans of masking their intentions by criticizing California's DEI initiatives. She argued their goal is to make the state "like every other red state" where vulnerable groups live in fear.
"They can drill and frack California until these fires look mild in comparison," she said. "They can rip out forests and hand the land to developers, Florida-style."
Reid claimed cultural hubs like Hollywood and San Francisco make California untouchable by culture alone. "They’re trying to take it with lies, deceit, and by fire," she warned.
Last week, Reid also claimed President-elect Trump's return to power would be "the most violent in U.S. history," suggesting the peaceful transfer of power to an "insurrectionist" was impossible.
