Freshman Senator Goes Off On Her Own Party: 'Weak and Woke'

Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin isn’t pulling punches. She’s slamming her own party as “weak and woke” and pushing Democrats to “f---ing retake the flag.” Her comments come as she prepares a bold “war plan” to take on Trump and the GOP.

Slotkin is launching a series of strategy speeches. The first was set in Lansing, aimed at rallying Democratic volunteers. She’s tackling strategy, tone, and the reasons behind the party’s recent setbacks.

According to Politico, Slotkin cited focus groups who said Democrats seem “weak and woke.” She wants the party to tap into patriotism and show strength. She even told Democrats to adopt “the goddamn Alpha energy” of Lions coach Dan Campbell.

Slotkin praised Campbell as “a wonderfully sappy guy with his players” who’s also “smart and tough and lovable.” She believes Democrats need that kind of no-nonsense vibe to counter MAGA messaging.

The senator also wants a reset on language. She says words like “oligarchy” don’t connect with average Americans. Instead, she wants the party to say they’re fighting “kings.”

That’s a direct jab at progressive icons like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour has drawn criticism for sounding too academic or elitist.

Slotkin’s speech, one aide told Politico, is “part buck-up, part come-to-Jesus.” She’s calling for authenticity—loudly and with profanity if needed. And she’s not alone in this approach.

Some Democrats are leaning into a rebrand called “dark woke.” It’s about being tough, even crude, to go toe-to-toe with Republicans. And swearing has become part of the playbook.

Take the Senate Democrats’ “Sh-- That Ain’t True” campaign. Lawmakers read from scripts, dropping curse words while slamming Trump. Slotkin’s just turning up the volume.
