So far food prices have increased every month of 2022. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the price of food at home has increased by 13.5% year-over-year in August, the highest yearly increase since 1979.
The food at home prices over the previous two years was 3.5% and 3.5% according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Also, food isn't the only thing that's going up in price in record fashion. Electric, rent and health insurance prices are also higher than they've been in decades and in some instances, ever.
