Financial Expert Dave Ramsey Sends Clear Message to DC Lawmakers

Financial expert Dave Ramsey delivered a sharp message to Washington lawmakers on Monday, blasting them for failing to protect Americans’ money and hammering home the devastating toll uncertainty is taking on small businesses.

“Do your job and get something passed that lets us keep our money. It’s pretty simple,” Ramsey said at the EntreLeadership Summit in Denver. His comments came in response to the Trump administration’s recently passed “big, beautiful bill,” now awaiting Senate approval.

Ramsey didn’t mince words. “This idea that we love small business in Washington is an absolute load of horse manure,” he said. He accused lawmakers of leaving small business owners to fend off constant government overreach.

“These guys will tell you — they’ve spent half their lives and a lot of money just trying to keep from getting the snot beat out of them by Washington,” he added, pointing to entrepreneurs in the audience.

Ramsey also warned that unpredictability — not just high taxes or regulations — is what’s “killing” Main Street. “It doesn't even matter what the tariff is,” he said. “What we need is a predictable environment.”

If costs and policies were stable, he explained, business owners could plan ahead and pivot when necessary. “It’s the unpredictability that kills business in general, but it’s devastating to small business,” Ramsey said.

He argued that letting business owners keep more of their money would boost hiring and economic growth. He stressed that clear, stable policy — especially on tariffs — is more valuable than constant political fights.

Despite concerns from entrepreneurs, the Trump administration continues to stand by its tariff policies, calling them part of a broader strategy to rebuild the economy and prioritize American workers.
