Democrat Senator Gives Thoughts as Trump Brokers Israel-Hamas Peace Deal

Sen. John Fetterman is once again taking a firm stand for Israel — and this time, he’s urging Hamas to accept the peace deal President Donald Trump is working to broker.

The Pennsylvania Democrat, known for his unwavering support of Israel, blasted pro-Palestinian protesters who have ignored Hamas’s role in prolonging the conflict.

“Good morning to everyone except all the protesters who aren’t protesting for Hamas to accept the peace deal,” Fetterman wrote Sunday on X.

His remarks came just days after he shared a Mediaite headline quoting CNN’s Dana Bash asking why pro-Palestine activists weren’t pressuring Hamas to agree to Trump’s proposal. “For those protesters: Hamas > Peace,” Fetterman commented, adding that there have been “no flotilla, blocking a highway or disrupting public events demanding Hamas to take the peace deal.”

Israel launched its war against Hamas following the brutal Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack that left hundreds murdered, raped, or kidnapped. But last week, Trump announced on Truth Social that Hamas had expressed a willingness to negotiate a deal that would include releasing all hostages — both dead and alive.

“Hamas must choose peace or its own destruction. Send the hostages home, now,” Fetterman wrote Friday, sharing a Reuters headline reporting Hamas’s openness to Trump’s Gaza plan. “As an unapologetic supporter of Israel, the Gaza War must end to have peace and security for Israel and Palestinians. Politics aside, credit to @POTUS’ peace plan to get to this encouraging point.”

Trump followed up Sunday evening with another post on Truth Social, saying “very positive discussions” had taken place with Hamas and several nations. “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE OR, MASSIVE BLOODSHED WILL FOLLOW — SOMETHING THAT NOBODY WANTS TO SEE!” he warned.

Fetterman has been outspoken in his criticism of his own party over its shifting stance on Israel. Last month, he accused Democrats of betraying the Jewish state after two Senate colleagues accused Israel of “ethnic cleansing.”

“I reject this in the strongest terms. My party’s ongoing and escalating betrayal of Israel is gross and outrageous,” Fetterman wrote at the time.
