Dan Bongino Gets Choked Up Announcing He's Moving Away From Radio

Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino got emotional on Monday’s show. He announced he’s leaving radio and podcasting to return to law enforcement.

Bongino, a former NYPD officer and Secret Service agent, is taking on a new role. President Donald Trump appointed him as Deputy Director of the FBI.

He opened his show with a simple question, knowing his audience was already aware: “All right. How do you start today’s show?”

Bongino mentioned a “man card” someone once gave him. He joked about turning it in because he knew he’d get emotional. And he did.

“I got a call from the president, and he couldn’t have been nicer,” Bongino said. “Obviously I’ll keep the contents between us, but I think you get the gist … this is now real.”

He praised Trump, Attorney General Bondi, and new FBI Director Kash Patel. “They offered this role, a role I expressed interest in,” he said. Then he choked up. “I’m going to accept the role, proudly, as the deputy director, the number two spot at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

Walking away from his show won’t be easy. “Folks, it’s a lot to walk away from,” he admitted. He promised to share more details as things progressed.

He addressed some critical comments. “I got a couple of negative comments … ‘Dan, you should have let us know.’ I hope you understand … you do not ever get ahead of the President of the United States.”
