Biden and Trump Bring Back Presidential Tradition That Was Skipped Four Years Ago

Just over a week after his big election win, former President Trump is headed back to the White House on Wednesday. It's his first visit in almost four years.

He’s returning at the invitation of President Biden, the man Trump just defeated in the 2024 race. They’re set to meet in the Oval Office around 11 a.m. ET, according to the White House.

Trump is also scheduled to speak with House Republicans and incoming members on Wednesday. Elon Musk, who owns X, is expected to attend, sources told Fox News Digital.

Before meeting Biden, Trump will stop by the hotel where House GOP lawmakers are holding leadership elections near the U.S. Capitol.

For Biden, the meeting could be awkward. After Trump trounced him in the 2024 race, the two men have been at odds. Biden had even ended his re-election bid in July, after his debate performance raised doubts about his ability to serve another term.

Trump didn’t let up. He continued criticizing Biden, even after he dropped out of the race, and slammed Vice President Harris too.

Biden, however, has labeled Trump a threat to democracy for years. Still, he wants to ensure a smooth transition.

“I assured him that I’d direct my entire administration to work with his team,” Biden said about his recent call with Trump when he extended the invitation.

Trump’s team, showing a softer tone, said he “looks forward to the meeting.” Biden’s invitation was one Trump never received from Biden himself.
