Ariana Grande sparked backlash this week after posting a pointed message aimed at Trump voters on Instagram.
The pop star shared a sarcastic “check-in” on her story, writing: “I want to check in with trump voters. I have one very genuine question: it’s been 250 days. Now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed, now that trans people have been blamed for virtually everything and live in fear, now that free speech is on the brink of collapse for us all — has your life gotten better?”
While Grande didn’t appear to expect actual answers, plenty of conservatives were quick to respond.
“Hey Ariana Grande, as a Trump voter I will answer your question: Yes life got better since Trump became President!” Libs of TikTok posted on X, before listing what they saw as Trump’s early accomplishments, from “securing the border” and banning “racist DEI” to cutting government waste and bringing back American jobs. “I do not regret my vote for a second. Couldn’t be happier!” the post concluded.
Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren also chimed in: “My life has gotten so much better! Thanks for asking!”
Others mocked Grande directly, with one commenter writing: “I love when celebs worth over $200 million, that have no clue about real life, treat everyday Americans like peasants. It’s so effective.” Another added: “Why yes Ariana, it has. One of the best things that has happened is that we’ve learned to ignore spoiled, rich, elitists handing out advice to the ‘peasants.’ You make us laugh.”
Grande has been outspoken politically, endorsing Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 election and taking a subtle swipe at Carrie Underwood for performing at Trump’s inauguration earlier this year. Her latest post only added fuel to an already heated online divide between celebrities and conservative voters.
