Aldi's New $5 Dish is a Must For the Fall

As the air turns crisp, comfort food takes center stage. Pumpkin spice might steal the spotlight, but hearty German flavors are what really warm the table. Aldi’s September finds bring back classics with a twist that shoppers won’t want to miss.

The chain’s annual German Week nods to Oktoberfest traditions, stocking shelves with everything from sausages to pretzels to rich, malty beers. This year, one savory highlight is stealing attention: a new take on strudel.

Starting September 17, Aldi will offer Deutsche Küche vegetarian strudel in two flavors—Mushroom and Cheese or Roasted Pepper and Cheese. Each box, priced at $4.49, comes frozen and bakes into a golden puff pastry filled with hearty vegetables and cheese.

The Mushroom and Cheese Strudel has 450 calories per serving, while the Roasted Pepper and Cheese option comes in at 410. Each box contains two servings, making it an easy meal to share or a quick solo dinner.

What makes these strudels stand out is the balance. The flaky, buttery pastry adds crunch while the filling stays creamy and rich. It’s hearty but not heavy, satisfying without needing a side of meat to complete the plate.

And Aldi didn’t forget dessert. For $3.29, shoppers can grab Deutsche Küche Apple Strudel or Fruits of the Forest Strudel. Both options deliver a flaky pastry shell with sweet, fruit-forward fillings that make an easy, crowd-pleasing finish.

These limited-edition strudels won’t be around long. For fans of Aldi’s German week, they’re a must-have item to grab before they disappear.
