After Tragic Event, Bible Sales Surge

Bible sales surged in September following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, according to a new report.

The Wall Street Journal cited data from Circana BookScan showing that 2.4 million copies of the Bible were sold in the U.S. last month—a 36% increase compared to September 2024.

“September brought a wave of troubling events—violence, geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty—underscoring a pattern: In times of crisis, more people turn to faith for comfort and support,” Circana analyst Brenna Connor told the outlet.

Kirk, who was outspoken about his Christian faith, often promoted abstinence, traditional marriage, and daily Bible reading. His death on September 10 at Utah Valley State University during a Turning Point USA event shocked millions of his supporters.

To honor him, President Donald Trump awarded Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously on October 14, which would have been his 32nd birthday.

Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, accepted the award at a White House ceremony and spoke about her husband’s faith and dedication to his beliefs.

That same day, Turning Point USA shared “31 Ways to Live Like Charlie Kirk” on X, encouraging followers to honor him by following his values. Among the list: “honor the Sabbath,” “journal every day,” “get married,” and “read your Bible every day.”
