On Sunday, Adam Sandler came to the defense of his friend Chris Rock, stating that he "never" believed that Rock crossed a line with his jokes about Will Smith at the Oscars, which resulted in Smith slapping him in response.
At the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize for American Humor event, a People reporter questioned Sandler on the red carpet about Rock's latest Netflix comedy special.
The Sandman described Rock's comedy special "Selective Outrage" as "amazing."
"Do you think he went too far with the Will Smith jokes?" a reporter asked Sandler.
"Nope, I never thought that in my life," Sandler answered.

"I thought he was unbelievably relaxed, funny, thoughtful, crushed it. Was real to himself, and it was as exciting to watch as when the Super Bowl is on. I thought about it all weekend. 'Alright, Rock's doing his thing tonight'," he said.
"Sat, watched it in my kitchen, laughed my ass off. Immediately watched it right after. It was one of the best experiences. I thought it was amazing," Sandler continued.
In his recent Netflix comedy special, Rock ridiculed Smith as a "b----" and made jokes about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith allegedly having a relationship with their son's friend, followed by interviewing him about it.
Over the weekend, Sandler was recognized with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor by the Kennedy Center.
Numerous entertainment luminaries, such as Jennifer Aniston, Judd Apatow, Drew Barrymore, Steve Buscemi, Dana Carvey, Luis Guzmán, Conan O’Brien, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, David Spade, and Ben Stiller, along with Sandler's co-stars, graced the occasion to celebrate his award of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor by the Kennedy Center.
The recipients of the award are typically recognized with a night of testimonials and video tributes, and Sandler's ceremony will be broadcast nationwide on March 26th.
