On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump visited East Palestine, Ohio, bringing hope and much-needed supplies to the embattled community. He promised the people that their needs would no longer be forgotten.
“We have told you loud and clear: You are not forgotten,” Trump said during his visit, according to a report from NBC. “We stand with you, we pray for you, and we will stay with you and your fight to help [receive] the accountability that you deserve.”
Following a train derailment and fire on Feb. 3 that resulted in a toxic cloud hovering over the town, the community has been struggling. Despite being advised that it was safe to come back, several individuals have reported experiencing headaches and rashes.
For critics of the Biden administration, the incident has become a point of contention as they argue that federal agencies should have provided the town with a more efficient and timely response.
As a show of support for first responders, Trump, who is known for his love of McDonald's, visited the local franchise before departing from the town.

“What’s your specialty today? … So I know this menu better than you do, OK? I probably know it better than anybody in here,” Trump said in the video on Twitter.
“We’re gonna take care of the fire department. We’re gonna take care of the police department,” Trump said.
“We’ll take care of everything,” he said, also stating everyone at McDonald's would get a free meal.

While he was at McDonald's, Trump was questioned about President Joe Biden's decision to travel to Europe rather than visiting East Palestine.
“Well, I think he should have come here. I think he should have been here,” Trump said.
