Never in my life would I have thought that someone would need to defend themselves for standing for the National Anthem and respecting our flag and those who have fought for it....yet here we are in 2021 and cancel culture is a witch.

U.S. soccer star Carli Lloyd felt the need to defend herself and explain why she stood for the anthem during this week’s MLK Day game against Colombia. While seven out of the eleven U.S. Women’s National Team members knelt, Carli dared to stand. With her were also defender Kelley O’Hara and midfielders Julie Ertz and Lindsey Horan.

The day after the game, Lloyd was questioned about her decision to stand instead of taking a knee with the majority of her team. She replied, “I think the beauty of this team is that we stand behind each other, no matter what. And you know, players decided to kneel, some players decided to stand, and at the end of the day, we have each other’s backs, and ultimately, we’re here to support one another in any way that we can and that’s what’s amazing about this team.”

It’s strange isn’t it? That an American showing patriotism and respect is now questionable, rather than the people on their knees. This day and age is wild.

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) suggested during an interview on Monday morning that in vetting the National Guard for potential threats against President-elect Joe Biden, officials should first look for supporters of President Donald Trump within the Guard’s ranks. He also specifically linked their presumed support for Trump to their skin color and gender.

Cohen, who is the chairman of the House Judiciary’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, made the remarks during a CNN interview with host Jim Sciutto.
