One of the top infectious disease specialists in the country, Dr. Stephen Smith has given us some encouraging news about something he's discovered.

Dr. Smith appeared on Fox News in an interview with Laura Ingraham and told her that he's seen so much success with the treatment he's been seeing that he feels that we now have a light at the end of the tunnel and are approaching the end of this mess.

Smith told Ingraham he believes that based on what he's seeing in with the treatment using a combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, we have hope.

Dr. Stephen Smith said,

"More importantly, no person who has received five days or more of the hydroxychloroquine-azithro combination has been intubated. The chance of that occurring by chance according to my sons Lian and Hunter who did some stats for me are .000 something. It’s ridiculously low. It’s ridiculously low no matter how you look at it. We worry about selection bias in this situation, but I cannot think of a reason why. If all else is equal why people that received 5 days or more or even four days or more of this hydroxychloroquine-azithro regimen wouldn’t get intubated. In other words, if it didn't work why would it just be the people that didn't get nearly completed...nearly complete the regimen."

"It’s a game-changer. An absolute game-changer. I think this data goes to really support the French data."

"Laura, I think this is the beginning of the end of the pandemic."

This is fantastic news for those who are infected with the virus or who are afraid that they may become infected. Now there is some solid hope of recovery if things do get serious.

However, if you live in Michigan, this isn't going to be good news since the Governor banned its use...or did she reverse her position on it now that Detroit is leading the way in researching hydroxychloroquine. It's hard to tell with her now.

Some of the statistics that Dr. Smith also found was that out of a small study of 72 patients who tested positive with COVID-19, 21 of them were pre-diabetic, 34 of them were already diabetic, and the average BMI of those who were severely ill was 30.7.
