Cleveland.com was able to obtain surveillance video that shows a daytime shootout where three people were injured include a young bystander.

This went down at 5 p.m. just west of the Waterloo arts & dining district. During the shootout there were more than 50 gunshots fired by at least four different people.

Daytime Shootout At Cleveland Gas Station

The incident begins as the driver of a black SUV parked at a pump, as seen in the surveillance footage, walks back to his vehicle. A 30-year-old man grabbed the driver and held him at gunpoint, while two other men - ages 18 and 27 - ran up to the SUV.

The 27-year-old shooter, carrying an AK-47 assault rifle, yanked the SUV's door open and fired at a passenger. The passenger was hit in the back and the mouth. The passenger, while seriously injured, returned fire and struck the 27-year-old man in the stomach.

The only other person injured in the shooting was a 7-year-old girl seated inside of her father's burgundy car. She was grazed by a bullet to her finger. You can see her get out of the car and run into the store during a pause in the shootout.

Cleveland Councilman Mike Polensek, who represents the ward where the shooting took place, told cleveland.com on Wednesday that he was shocked that the girl only suffered a minor injury.

"It was a miracle she wasn't killed," he said. "I told her that her guardian angle must have been watching over her."

Police believe the three men met up before the robbery at a nearby home.

According to the arrest report, the 18-year-old man and the 30-year-old man walked to the gas station.

The third member of the group drove and parked behind the station, police say.

Minutes after the shootout, an unidentified man who was not involved in the shooting is scene driving into the gas station parking lot and walking away with the AK-47 assault rifle left at the scene. 

Meanwhile, police believe that the 18-year-old and the 30-year-old were trying to meet up at the same home where they met before the incident.

Police officers entered the home and arrested the 18-year-old, who was standing outside.

Thinking that the 30-year-old was inside the home, police called for a SWAT team that surrounded the home until 4:30am on Wednesday.

After searching the home, police were unable to locate the 30-year-old, though investigators said they found two guns.

'I've never seen anything like this before, and I've been doing this a long time,' Polensek said of the crime in the Collinwood section of Cleveland. 

'These hoodlums know the police aren't out there patrolling as much as they used to be.'

It truly was an incredible that this shootout went down in broad daylight. Luckily the 7-year-old girl was escape with only a bullet grazing her finger.
