Trump: Women Who Get Abortions Should Face “Some Form of Punishment”

The liberal media is up in arms over Trump stating that any woman should get some form of punishment. The part of the quote that is being left out is that they should be punished if abortions are banned. So Trump is stating if you do something illegal, you should be punished. Within a few hours, Trump backed away from this statement.

Below is the initial statement about punishment regarding abortion.

Within a few hours, Trump changed course.

Per CNN: “If Congress were to pass legislation making abortion illegal and the federal courts upheld this legislation, or any state were permitted to ban abortion under state and federal law, the doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman,” the statement said. “The woman is a victim in this case as is the life in her womb.”

That didn’t mollify opponents who have seen him as a fake conservative who has been a no-show on the big conservative fights.
This is no question a tricky issue for Trump. He is unable to sidestep this issue and make generalizations and it must be addressed head on. And of course the media is going to pounce any way that he goes.
