NYPD confirmed a terrorist car attack happened in Manhattan. The suspect is in custody after leaving at least 7 people dead and 15 more injured. Police initially called this a "road rage incident" just a few blocks away from the World Trade Center, according to NBC New York.
NBC News has reported that "senior law enforcement sources" are indicating the incident is being treated as "a possible terrorist incident."
Per the AP:
“Police and witnesses say a motorist drove onto a busy bicycle path near the World Trade Center memorial and struck several people, then emerged from the vehicle screaming and firing something that appeared to be a gun."

Law enforcement reports state that the suspect shouted "Allahu Akbar" - a phrase used by Islamic terrorists - during the attack.
