If you have ever worked a day in your life, then you know the awful moment of realization when you see how much money you should have made, and then see the amount you actually get after taxes. The feeling is even worse when you put in over time and get taxed even more!

I am not sure how the taxes work in every state, but in Ohio, workers are taxed 40% on overtime hours! I did the math, and that means that we actually make the same, if not slightly less, on the hour overtime than regular time.

Taxation is theft, pointblank! The government did not work those overtime hours with me, so why are they getting nearly half my earnings? It's not fair, and I am not the only one who believes so!

A petition has been started on MoveOn Petitions to stop taxation on overtime pay. With a goal of 30,000 signatures, it's almost there with nearly 26,300 as the time of this article.

It reads: "All Americans who work are taxed heavily on any overtime pay. If we where allowed to keep all of our extra earnings, then we could become more financially sound. All this taxation may fund the government, but it also does not allow us to invest our hard earned money for ourselves and our families."

"To be delivered to President Donald Trump, Governor Gavin Newsom, The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, The California State House, The California State Senate." The petition added, "Do not tax any overtime pay for any worker in America. Allow us to keep the overtime pay that we worked so hard for. This will help those that work hard to become financially strong, invest, pay down debt faster."

Upon signing the petition (of course I did!) you are prompted with an email to send others who you think may be interested in signing, as well as an option to share it on Facebook.

So sign the petition and pass it on, that way we can hopefully begin to keep more of our hard earned money!
