It's fun to kid around about how liberals suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome.
I say that knowing that most people joke about it. I, on the other hand, seriously do believe that there is something mentally unstable about liberals who have such a massive problem with President Trump to the degree that they start screaming and hitting themselves or others. Now, it looks like I've got my proof.
A recent study shows that of people who have mental illnesses, the largest group to have them more frequently just happens to be liberals.
Ph.D. student Zach Goldberg studied some data and found that liberals are much more likely to have a mental illness than a conservative.
Take a look at these charts:
Notice in those charts that almost half of white liberals under the age of 29 claims to have been diagnosed by a doctor that they have a mental health condition.

It has been claimed that left-wingers or liberals (US sense) tend to be more mentally ill than right-wingers or conservatives. This potential link was investigated using the General Social Survey. A search found 5 items measuring one’s own mental illness in different ways (e.g.”Do you have any emotional or mental disability?”). All of these items were associated with left-wing political ideology as measured by self-report. These results held up mostly in regressions that adjusted for age, sex, and race. For the variable with the most data, the difference in mental illness between “extremely liberal” and “extremely conservative” was 0.39 d. This finding is congruent with numerous findings based on related constructs.
When comparing liberals to conservatives on the chart above, every single position on the spectrum of liberalism there is a higher rate of mental illness than every single level of the conservative side.
