A very strange controversy brewed up when Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted a photo of a pie that she baked for her family on Thanksgiving. It was no different than usual. The White House Press Secretary taking on the #FakeNews mainstream media. This particular argument was even more absurd than usual.
It all started when Sanders tweeted:
I dont cook much these days, but managed this Chocolate Pecan Pie for Thanksgiving at the family farm!

One of the White House reporters, April Ryan, thought it was a good idea to question whether or not Sanders actually baked the pie. She proposed a conspiracy theory and even asked if the pie could be placed on a table.
Show it to us on a table. https://t.co/ifeSBlSZW7

I am not trying to be funny but folks are already saying #piegate and #fakepie Show it to us on the table with folks eating it and a pic of you cooking it. I am getting the biggest laugh out of this. I am thankful for this laugh on Black Friday! https://t.co/ifeSBlSZW7

Sanders responded to Ryan and even threw a little shade back by adding "#FakeNews ;-)" to the end of the tweet.
Don’t worry @AprilDRyan because I’m nice I’ll bake one for you next week #RealPie #FakeNews 😉 https://t.co/5W3mGbKs4J

That ended the battle, but not the war.
Sanders was the guest of honor on Wednesday night at the American Principles Project's Red White and Blue Awards Dinner in DC. While on stage she was asked by moderator Terry Schilling about #PieGate. She took the chance to put these stupid rumors to bed.
“Being from the South, I think one of the most offensive things that you can accuse somebody of is a store-bought pie,” Sanders said while getting an applause. “Not only did I make it this Thanksgiving, I make it every holiday for my family, including at Christmas I used to make it for all of my neighbors on my street.”
“I usually make it with bourbon,” Sanders said. “I have since this week purchased the ingredients to make many more.”
