Last week, a news reporter from liberal news outlet NPR tried to claim that Surgeon General Jerome Adams made some insensitive and even racist remarks during a press conference.
Surgeon General Adams said,
"If you must go out maintain 6 feet of distance between you and everyone else and wear a mask if you're going to be within 6 feet of others. Wash your hands more often than you ever dreamed possible. Avoid alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.
And call your friends and family, check in on your mother. She wants to hear from you right now.
And speaking of mothers, we need you to do this if not for yourself, then for your abuela, do it for your granddaddy, do it for your Big Mama, do it for your pop pop. We need you to understand, especially in communities of color, we need you to step up and help stop the spread so that we can protect those who are most vulnerable."
Surgeon General Jerome Adams urges minorities who are at higher risk for coronavirus to avoid drugs and alcohol. If they don't want to do it for themselves, do it "for your abuela, do it for your grandaddy, do it for your Big Mama, do it for your pop pop" https://t.co/vSwcu9K40f pic.twitter.com/93BoBVm7oB

Her claim was that the things he said may have already led people to become offended by them.
The only reason they'd be offended by what he said is if they were looking for a reason to be offended.
NPR reporter Yamiche Alcindor tweeted,
US Surgeon General Jerome Adams says black, Latino & other people of color should "avoid alcohol, tobacco and drugs." "We need you to step up," he says.
Some will find this language offensive after Adams stressed that behavior was not the issue for why more black ppl are dying.

But this isn't surprising in the least. This is precisely how the mind of a liberal works.
SG Adams' statement wasn't directed at blacks and Latino minorities, they were directed toward everyone. He's the surgeon general for goodness sakes, of course he wants people to quit smoking and drinking.
But she only heard what she wanted to hear. She even asked him about what he said claiming that people are already offended, especially because he referred to people as abuela, granddaddy, and Big Mama. But like a typical liberal, she made it out to be directed towards minorities.
SG Adams was quite ready with a response to ease the minds of all those "offended".

.@Yamiche is at it again.
What a RIDICULOUS question for U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams.
Good thing he is quick on his feet to respond to her bonkers gotcha question.
