Robert Mueller is the special counsel in charge of the Russian collusion investigation. Interestingly a new report reveals Mueller was FBI director when the agency hit evidence on the Clinton-Russia connection. The evidence that was hidden was related to a bribery scheme that Russia was using to grow their atomic energy business within the U.S.

A report that was released on Tuesday showed that this evidence was even held from lawmakers when they were question the sell of Uranium One to Rosatom. This acquisition led to 20% of U.S. uranium being controlled by Russia.

Per a report from The Hill, there are major ties between the officials involved with the Russian bribery scheme and those who are investigating whether or not the Trump campaign "colluded" during the 2016 election with Russia.

The investigation was ultimately supervised by then-U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, an Obama appointee who now serves as President Trump’s deputy attorney general, and then-Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe, now the deputy FBI director under Trump, Justice Department documents show.

Both men now play a key role in the current investigation into possible, but still unproven, collusion between Russia and Donald Trump’s campaign during the 2016 election cycle. McCabe is under congressional and Justice Department inspector general investigation in connection with money his wife’s Virginia state Senate campaign accepted in 2015 from now-Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe at a time when McAuliffe was reportedly under investigation by the FBI.

The connections to the current Russia case are many. The Mikerin probe began in 2009 when Robert Mueller, now the special counsel in charge of the Trump case, was still FBI director. And it ended in late 2015 under the direction of then-FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump fired earlier this year.

Mueller has come under fire as a result of it being revealed there were political donations made to the Democratic Party by attorneys on his staff. He made zero donations to Donald Trump who was then a candidate, but he did make donations to Hillary Clinton when they were both presidential candidates.
