Make no mistake, this was a tense moment. Russian President Vladimir Putin rips out earpiece in a fit of rage when Megyn Kells asks about Russian interference in the election.
This interview happened on Friday and it will air on NBC Sunday at 7 PM EST. Megyn Kelly was in St. Petersburg and was moderating a panel discussion when she asked Putin for his thoughts on United States intelligence agencies concluding that Russia interfered with the 2016 election.
Putin Rips Out Earpiece
Putin heaped some sarcastic praise on Kelly right before he tore the earpiece out.
“Everyone should take the American mass media’s role model. Megyn has been demonstrating today high class in her profession. And what President Trump has been saying…just show me the quote where he said he won because of Russian intervention. I don’t remember him saying so.”
Give Megyn Kelly some credit. She certainly stood her ground. She said, "Trump finally came around to say, 'I think Russia did it' and he said, 'I don't think he'll do it again.'"
At this point Putin was clearly irritated. Just before taking out his earpiece he said, “this is not as simple as having an interview or writing an article in a newspaper.”
“As for the interference, look at what your colleagues are doing in our country,” Putin said. “They have been deep down in our domestic policies doing what they want, enjoying themselves, on a systemic basis for many years.”
