Hillary Clinton has really been slamming Donald Trump for his birther stance on Obama. Well here is proof Hillary started the birther craze.
She even took it a step further and demanded Trump apologize about it.
“Barack Obama was born in America, plain and simple,” she railed. “And Donald Trump owes him and the American people an apology.”
“For five years, he has led the birther movement to delegitimize our first black president,” she claimed. “His campaign was founded on this outrageous lie.”
“There is no erasing it in history,” Clinton added.
Funny how she says there is no erasing history.
First there was the Penn Strategy memo in 2008. This was from Mark Penn, one of her chief strategists. It includes this statement: “I cannot imagine America electing a president during a time of war who is not at his center fundamentally American in his thinking and in his values.”
Here is the rest of it.
In 2008 Clinton's staff circulated an Obama photo in Somali garb. They even had to issue a statement. What's worse, there was no apology in the statement. Instead they argued the photo was not controversial.
This Slate Article talks about the Somali garb issue. It also points out how Hillary Clinton's staff circulated rumors about Obama being Muslim.
Former Senator Bob Kerrey, a Hillary surrogate, was put under a lot of pressure for calling Obama by his full name and suggesting he is Muslim.
After the pressure increased, Kerrey admitted that Hillary was the first to start the rumor Obama was born in Indonesia.
On top of that, MSNBC has even stated that Hillary started 'birtherism.'
Per Mediaite:
Host Joe Scarborough called Clinton’s attack on Trump “rich,” saying, “For Hillary Clinton to come out and criticize anybody for spreading the rumors about Barack Obama, when it all started…”
“On 60 Minutes,” co-host Mika Brzezinski agreed, referring to an interview in which Clinton said Obama was a Christian “as far as I know.”
“It all started with her and her campaign passing things around in the Democratic primary; rich,” Scarborough continued. “Now, the Republicans are wrong for doing what they’re doing. This started with Hillary Clinton, and it was spread by the Clinton team in 2008.”
