President Trump has taken great joy in removing many of the Obama-era regulations. This one deals with the disastrous approach Michelle Obama took to school lunch.
One of the most talked about disasters of the Obama administration was the school lunch reform program. The National School Lunch Program set ridiculous guidelines for lunches across the country. They put unreasonable restrictions on calories and sugar contents. This resulted in students across the country being disgusted by their school lunch. They were left hungry and malnourished.
When someone thinks of school lunch, they might think of the chocolate milk. Well, Michelle Obama ruined that part. This is being fixed right now.
Per Daily Wire:
Chocolate milk with 1 percent fat will again be available to public school children after new rules are enacted by the Trump administration. The rules set fourth by the U.S. Department of Agriculture will allow flavored milk with 1 percent fat back into school cafeterias nationwide after flavored milk that was not non-fat was banned for years under the Obama rules.
Speaking to the rules change, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue told reporters in May:
“This is not reducing the nutritional standards whatsoever. I wouldn’t be as big as I am today without flavored milk.”
Perdue doubled down on one of the major criticisms of the Obama administration lunch program in a statement last week:
“Schools want to offer food that students actually want to eat. It doesn’t do any good to serve nutritious meals if they wind up in the trash can.”
Why would non-fat chocolate milk even be an option? If you are going to force students to drink non-fat chocolate milk, then just remove chocolate milk from the menu altogether.
