A pair of violent burglars got more than they bargained for when they broke into a family's home and attacked them. They likely thought they'd find some goods, but rather found themselves staring down the barrel of an AR-15.
An eight months pregnant women used an AR-15 to protect her husband and pre-teen daughter from burglars last week. After the encounter, one of the criminals is dead and the other is still on the run.
Jeremy King was at his home in Lithia, 25 miles southeast of Tampa, at 9 p.m. Wednesday night when two armed men, wearing masks and hoods, broke inside.
"As soon as they had got the back door opened, they had a pistol on me and was grabbing my 11-year-old daughter,” King said. “I’m telling them, ‘I have nothing for you,' and they’re like, ‘Give me everything you got.’ It became real violent, real fast.”
He said that one of the criminals pistol whipped him while the other kicked him in the head. The noise from their attack is what alerted the wife that there was a problem. She entered the room to see what all the commotion was and immediately dodged a bullet.
The [wife], who was not identified, reportedly retreated and grabbed an AR-15 that was legally inside their house, returning to the room and shooting the intruders, hitting one of them.
The man was later found dead in the ditch, according to the news outlet. The other burglar fled when his friend was shot.
“When he came toward the back door in her line of sight, she clipped him,” King said, “He made it from my back door to roughly 200 feet out in the front ditch before the AR did its thing.”
“Them guys came in with two normal pistols and my AR stopped it. [My wife] evened the playing field and kept them from killing me," he added.
King reported that he suffered from "20 stitches and three staples in my head," a fractured eye socket, fractured sinus cavity, and a concussion.

Times like this are what I like to bring to light as the left continues to ask, "Why do you need an AR-15?" They continued to try to take our guns and make light of our rights. However, when evil has a gun, I want one as well. I want a level playing field and a fighting chance to protect my family.
