Well, that was quick. The Oscars waste no time going political. The exact reason why many of us did not tune in. Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler attacked President Trump in record time.
The show kicked off with a performance from Queen. "American Idol" star Adam Lambert stepped in at vocals for Freddy Mercury. Right when the performance ended Rudolph, Fey and Poehler took the stage.
They made a few jokes about the event not having a host for the night. Remember, comedian Kevin Hart was attacked for making jokes in the past. Yep, that's where we are right now. Comedians can't even make jokes anymore. Even worse this was a joke Hart made YEARS ago and it gets brought out before the Oscars and he's ousted as host.
Then came the moment they went political.
“So just a quick update in case you’re confused. There is no host tonight, there will be no popular movie category — and Mexico is not paying for the wall,” Rudolph said and the crowd erupted with applause.

Of course their anti-wall, anti-American fans ate it up:

Early on, though, Maya Rudolph, presenting along with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, took a dig at the Academy’s foibles and at the president. “There’s no host, there won’t be a popular movie category, and Mexico is not paying for the wall.” #impeachtrump #trumpresign #indicttrump

They didn't even wait for a clever moment to make a good joke. She threw it into a spot that didn't make sense. Even worse, the crowd loves it. That tells you what kind of people are for the Oscars.
Even though I am on the right and support strengthening our borders, I can acknowledge good humor when I see it. This was not good humor. A good "wall" joke could have made both sides laugh. This did not do that.
On the left, though, any dig at Trump is as good as holding up an applause sign that everyone must abide by. No matter how tired and played out the same jokes are, they are hilarious to the people that attend the Oscars every time.
This did serve as a reminder that President Trump is still living rent free in 100% of the left's minds at all times.
