Talk about an incredibly intense situation. On Saturday an off-duty police officer in Brazil shot and killed two armed suspects with his baby son under his arm. Sergeant Rafael Souza was only there to purchase medicine. His wife was making the purchase and speaking to the clerk while two armed men, Jefferson Alves, 24, and Italo Creato, 22, busted into the pharmacy.

The Daily Mail reported that Alves pointed a gun at Souza and realized he was a police officers. When the assailant had his gun pulled and pointed at him and was about to shoot him, Souza pulled out his own gun and shot the robber from point blank range.

After this he handed off his baby son to his wife and took off after Creato. He was able to track him down and shoot him dead.

Per The Independent:

Paramedics later arrived to attend to the pair after the melee at Praça Castelo Branco shopping centre, but they were pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Souza, of the 49th Metropolitan Battalion in São Paulo, told investigators he shot at the men because he believed they would have opened fire first after he identified himself as a police officer.

Shocking video has emerged of an off-duty police officer shoot and kill two suspects during a raid on a pharmacy while holding his baby boy under one arm. 

Sergeant Rafael Souza entered Bifarma in the centre of Campo Limpo Paulista in Brazil with his wife and their young son to buy medicine on Saturday afternoon when armed gunmen rushed in.

The dramatic scenes were caught on CCTV in the state of São Paulo.
