The mainstream media is all over the Ahmaud Arbery incident and have been devoting plenty of resources to make sure we all know how racist white people are.
But at the same time they're completely ignoring what happened in Delaware which was the exact opposite scenario that what happened to Arbery.
A married couple in their 80s were gunned down by a young black man while they were in a cemetery. The man had been running from the police and it just looked like they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
According to police, Sheldon Francis, 29, of Middletown, Delaware, shot the 85-year-old woman and 86-year-old man while they were visiting the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery just before 10:15 a.m. Friday. The woman died at the scene, while the man died the next day at a hospital.
Police found Francis dead around six hours after the shooting in a wooded area near the cemetery. Hours earlier, officers and Francis exchanged gunfire in the area.
It’s unclear if Francis died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound or from a shot during the earlier gunfire, police said.
Police have not yet released the couples’ names pending family notification.
I've got to be honest and say that I'm still undecided about the Ahmaud Arbery incident.
Based on what I've seen so far and my limited understanding of the law, I think that the two white men were within their rights to attempt a citizen's arrest and open carry a shotgun.
Once Arbery ran around the truck and charged at the man holding the shotgun and began fighting over the weapon, both men were within their right to practice self-defense.
From what I've seen, a shot was fired at Arbery before contact was made between the two wrestling over the shotgun. If that is indeed the case, then there's going to be some trouble for the men.
It wasn't the best idea to go try and confront Arbery with guns. The better thing to do would have been to just call the police and maybe follow the Arbery.
