A handicapped man with cerebral palsy has a run-in with a group of rioters that left him fearing for his life.
Protesters swarmed around his car like a group of hornets who just had their nest destroyed and were bashing his windows before they pulled him from the car.
58-year-old Eldon Hawkins of Columbus Ohio said he was just trying to go get dinner on when accidentally ended up in the middle of a protest downtown.
"I was at the intersection, and I got the green light. I was trying to toot my horn, thinking, 'Hey guys, look at the light,'" Hawkins told the station.
Protesters blocked him in. In the video, you can see he tried to back his vehicle up when one protester's bicycle hit his car. It is a roadway, after all.
"He tried to get away from the situation and in doing so he accidentally struck — and I emphasize accidentally struck — an individual on a bike," witness Phillip Hurst told WBNS.
As the video shows, the bicyclist didn't even fall but immediately started hitting Hawkins' vehicle. Soon after more leftwing BLM activists mindlessly swarmed the vehicle.
"They threw a bicycle on my windshield and started kicking my doors and windows," Hawkins said during last week's city council meeting, the Dispatch reported. "It scared the life out of me. I thought they were going to kill me'
The angry mob jumped on top of his car bashing in the windshield. Soon you see the trunk pop open and the crowd throws out all of his belongings from inside the trunk. Most of which appeared to be flowers. One shady protester can be seen running away with a bunch of blue flowers like he had just taken a TV.
"I thought they were going to kill me," he added to WBNS.
Once Hawkins' was pulled from the car the crowd could see they had started a disabled man. Some people rushed to control the crowd and protect Hawkins before things finally simmered down.
Hawkins said that the damages cost him $8,129.29, but I think he will probably be scarred for life after that horrific ordeal. It was reported that Hawkins' church helped him raise the money for the repairs.
"It's one thing to protest, but when people start breaking windows and spray painting the F-word, that's turning this beautiful city into a dive," Hawkins also said at the city council meeting, the paper added.
"We did not break one window, and we did not spray-paint foul language, because this is our city," Hawkins added, the paper noted. "If troublemakers don't like it, they can leave."
He told WBNS, "I think it's a horrible shame. People can protest, and we all have that right, there is a right and wrong way to do it."
