Kaepernick Refuses to Stand For National Anthem

After Colin Kaepernick refuses to stand for national anthem, he finds himself at the center of a controversy.

Kapernick believes he is standing up for unfair treatment of African-Americans in this country. Though this isn't the first time he has refused to stand, he is getting extra attention for this time in Green Bay.

The 49ers issued this statement after the game:

“The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony. It is an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens. In respecting such American principles as freedom of religion and freedom of expression, we recognize the right of an individual to choose and participate, or not, in our celebration of the national anthem.”

It is his right to not stand. A right that was given to him thanks to the men and women who risked it all for this country.
