This nine foot storm surge graphic does a great job of explaining what really happens during a storm. Homeowners need to check this out.

It's a very scary graphic but it's needed to get the point across. If all of the news networks had access to this graphic there wouldn't be as many people sticking out the storm at home.

Per The Verge:

A new video from The Weather Channel shows in real time the danger of flood waters already rising in parts of the Carolinas as Hurricane Florence starts battering the coast. The storm is moving slowly and is anticipated to bring deadly storm surges to the region as well as torrential rains. “That’s a recipe for a flooding disaster,” meteorologist Marshall Shepherd told The Verge in an interview on Monday.

The National Hurricane Center is predicting storm surges anywhere from two to more than 11 feet high. But it’s hard to visualize what those numbers actually mean for someone near the water. The National Hurricane Center tried to make it clear with a cartoon graphic that shows rainbow colored water levels rising over the heads of a family in a house.

Hopefully everyone takes these warnings seriously and gets out of harm's way. The Weather Channel did a great job of taking things a step further and actually showing a reality of what kind of damage this storm will cause.

Everyone that is going to get hit by this storm needs to take the steps necessary to make sure everyone is safe. This is not about "being tough" or "roughing it." This needs to be taken very seriously as there is a lot of damage coming to the area.
