b b bA Massachusetts college is taking massive action to oppose the election of Donald Trump. Hampshire College stops flying American flags. Yes, you read that right.
On campus an American flag was burned immediately after the election of Trump. Hampshire College President Johnathan Lash made a statement to WWLP-TV that the flags will not be flown for the time being.
“It is a disrespect. That shouldn’t have happened in the first place,” Lash said.
Initially the flags were lowered to half-staff, immediately at the conclusion of the November 8 election.
The station claims that this is not the first time there has been battles on campus over the flying of the flag. There have been commemorative 9/11 flags that have been hot-button issue on campus. The school board voted to fly those flags annually.
Lash also stated that the Amherst campus will speak with students and staff about how they plan on utilizing the flags in the future.
