The Steelers went through with their promise to not come onto the field for the anthem. Well, all of them except for proud American Alejandro Villanueva.

This isn’t the first time Villanueva has stepped out and taken on the NFL anthem protesters. Back in August 2016, he had this to say about the Colin Kaepernick protest:

“I don’t know if the most effective way is to sit down during the national anthem with a country that’s providing you freedom, providing you $16 million a year … when there are black minorities that are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan for less than $20,000 a year.”

The 6-foot-9 Alejandro Villanueva chose not to do what the rest of his team did when they refused to acknowledge the anthem. This Steeler no doubt made loads of fans all across the country thanks to his actions today.
