As a rule of thumb, fact-checking websites are garbage.

That's not to say that they don't get it right every now and then, nor does it mean that there aren't good fact-checkers out there.

Factcheck.org for example may not be perfect, but they at least fact check both sides of the political spectrum. In a recent check, they ripped apart the infamous interview that Democratic nominee Joe Biden did with "Charlamagne tha god". You know the one..."If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black."

During the interview, Biden made a number of false, misleading or exaggerated claims.

Biden wrongly stated that he called for nationwide social distancing restrictions prior to March 8th, which Columbia University researchers said would have prevented 36,000 US deaths due to the Wuhan virus.

The Columbia University study, that has yet to be peer-reviewed was posted on May 20th. The study claims that if social distancing and stay at home orders were initiated on March 8th instead of just two weeks later 35,000 deaths could have been avoided. However, data from this study could discount the report altogether, new evidence is showing that the coronavirus has inside the USA as early as mid-January.

They contacted the Biden campaign, but, of course, they didn't respond.

Instead, we know that Biden did speak to a crowd of 1,000 at a Detroit high school on March 9th.

So much for being about social distancing back on March 8th.

The website also detailed Biden’s exaggeration when he said “I wrote an article” about the coronavirus on January 27 that said, “this pandemic’s here.” Biden is referring to an article he wrote called “global health challenge” that argued President Trump was not prepared to lead the country through the “possibility of a pandemic.”

The first line of the op-ed said, “The possibility of a pandemic is a challenge Donald Trump is unqualified to handle as president.”

Fact-checkers also uncovered that Biden also gave himself too much credit:

He also gave himself too much credit when he said, “I’m the guy that said we ought to … find out exactly how many people in the black community are getting COVID and are dying from it.” On April 9, Biden joined several Democrats who had already called for the federal health department to collect racial and ethnic demographic data on testing and treatment.

But to support his claim, the Biden campaign directed us to an April 9 statement showing that Biden was following what other Democrats had already asked the Department of Health and Human Services to do. He wasn’t taking the lead.

In the post on the Medium, a publishing platform, Biden said, in part: “This pandemic has shown us the importance of leading with science and following the data — but we can’t follow the data if we don’t have it. That’s why I join my Democratic colleagues Senator [Elizabeth] Warren, Congresswoman [Ayanna] Pressley, Senator [Kamala] Harris, Senator [Cory] Booker, Congresswoman [Robin] Kelly, and others in calling on the CDC and other agencies to release more data about how COVID-19 is hurting our communities. Not just data on age, but also on income and race, so we can focus resources on where help is needed first and fastest.”

Those Democratic lawmakers had already sent a March 27 letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, asking HHS and its agencies to pay close attention to racial disparities in the U.S. response to COVID-19.
