The so-called "Cancel Culture" is at it again, but this time it's not about movies and tv shows. This time they're going after classic literature.
There is now a group of teachers that are working to that want to make sure that children do not have access to these classic pieces of American literature because they are filled with racism, sexism, and other hate speech.
The project, called “#DisruptTexts,” is largely the work of “Twitter agitators” and critical race theory specialists who have found a home in America’s public schools, the WSJ reports, but it has the support of individuals with access to influential publications like School Library Journal that have an impact on choices made in school districts across the country.
“Their ethos holds that children shouldn’t have to read stories written in anything other than the present-day vernacular—especially those ‘in which racism, sexism, ableism, anti-Semitism, and other forms of hate are the norm,'” a “young adult novelist” involved in the project wrote in the magazine.
Some of the books that the group wants to be banned are Homer's Odyssey and books by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Dr. Seuss. Dr. Seuss! Come on now people.
One book that has received a lot of attention is "To Kill a Mockingbird" because Atticus Finch, a white man, is depicted as a "white savior" for a black man.
This is an absolute perversion of the story and you've got to be suffering from a mental illness to suggest such a thing.
Here's what they're implying by saying something like this; white people can't help black people because that's racist. However, aren't they wanting white people in society to help them with this whole "Black Lives Matter" thing going on? Or do they want us to be against it, or indifferent toward the movement? You can't have it both ways.
I don't see anyone trying to get rid of Adolph Hitler's Mein Kampf or Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels' Communist Manifesto.
Here's the problem that I see. There is a fundamental difference in literature that elevates and promotes bad behavior and that which talks about it and deals with it.

However, it appears Mitch was simply playing 3D chess. He does not want to deprive Americans of relief, but wants to also provide a real answer on voter fraud.
