Far left Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) deleted an ill-advised tweet Sunday. In the tweet, the Congressman tells conservative Parkland student Kyle Kashuv he should come visit California so he can "experience our awesome #cannabis."
As many people have experienced on Twitter, the internet never forgets. Kashuv grabbed a screenshot of the tweet before Lieu was able to delete it.
Was I just encouraged by a Congressman to smoke weed when I am 21? Yes, legally, but still. Holy smikee, batman! pic.twitter.com/a2kExgeUPx

Lieu realized he had clearly made a fool of himself by inviting a high schooler to come to California and smoke weed. He reached back out to Kashuv and apologized.
I have now read the comments to my response to you. While I am proud of California's legal cannabis law, I can see why saying this to you can be misinterpreted because you are not 21. I hereby apologize. You should listen to your parents. I will hereby delete the prior tweet.

Kashuv was able to turn the experience into a positive. While he admitted he is "scared at who this country elects" he still looks forward to getting the opportunity to serve one day "as a member of Congress."
After going at it with @tedlieu on Twitter, I am scared at who this country elects. But on the bright side, I am confident I will be able to, one day, serve as a member of Congress!
