Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker is securing his loss in the next election by proposing MORE gun control laws.

Booker wants all gun owners to be required to have a license issued by the federal government, complete with training and an interview...because that's just what we need, a government with more control.

WRONG!

I wonder if he has realizes that it is our constitutional right to carry a gun, with or without a license. Getting the government more involved is not the answer. The less the government has control over, the better.

According to an article written by Booker, this is how it would work: "Individuals could seek a gun license at a designated local office, widely available in urban and rural areas, similar to applying for or renewing a passport. They would submit fingerprints, provide basic background information, and demonstrate completion of a certified gun safety course."

Sounds pretty similar to how we already obtain a concealed carry permit, but okay.

The site continued, "The FBI would then verify submission of required materials and run a comprehensive background check before issuing a federal gun license, after which the license-holder could freely purchase and own firearms. "

In addition to new gun owners being required to go through the proposed process, current licensed owners would be given a transition period to comply.

"I am sick and tired of hearing thoughts and prayers for the communities that have been shattered by gun violence - it is time for bold action," the former Newark mayor said. "We must step up and deal with something that is crushing communities, destroying lives and really just tearing apart families."

Fox News reports:

No such national gun license program currently exists. Thirteen states and the District of Columbia have enacted some form of licensing or permit rules before people can buy guns, according to the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

Last month during a high-profile speech in his hometown of Newark, Booker vowed to "bring a fight" to the National Rifle Association, which generally opposes gun restrictions.

Interestingly enough, not a single NRA member has been arrested for murdering people with guns. It is quite possibly the only organization in America that gets blamed for crimes that none of its members commit.
