It's known that the left won't stop at any length to get votes. It has been established that they want the votes of illegals. Now House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that she would supporting lowering the voting age to 16.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) introduced an amendment last week to do just that. Her "For the People" Act was overwhelmingly defeated last week, 305-126. Also included in this amendment was an affirmation that the resistance party is looking to open up voting for illegal immigrants.
“Young people are at the forefront of some of our most existential crises,” Pressley stated. “The time has come. Our young people deserve to have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote.”
The lone Republican who voted in favor of the measure was Texas Rep. Michael Burgess.

“I myself, personally, I’m not speaking for my caucus, I myself have always been for lowering the voting age to 16,” Pelosi said when asked by The Daily Caller about her thoughts on the issue. “I think it’s really important to capture kids when they’re in high school when they’re interested in all of this when they’re learning about government to be able to vote.”
“Some of the priorities in this bill are about transparency and openness and accessibility, and the rest,” she added. “That’s a subject of debate but my view is that I would welcome it, but I’ve been in that position for a long time.”

That's right she said "capture kids when they're in high school." Which is a strategy the left already uses for a lot of their young votes already.
There are several reasons why this is a bad idea. While there are a few 16-year-olds that know enough about government to vote, that is more the rule than the exception. These are juniors in high school. Lawmakers have been attempting to raise the age on drinking and smoking yet want to hand them the right to vote? Makes no sense.
In 2018 there was a poll that showed 81% of Americans opposed lowering the voting age and 16% were in favor.
The possibility of lowering the voting age to 16 has sparked a social media storm of people posting videos of stupid things 16-year-olds do.
Do 16-year-olds even want to vote? It's crazy the lengths the left will go to in order to get more votes.
