On Monday, actress Alyssa Milano, who happens to have armed bodyguards, went out on a Twitter rant opposing the NRA. While the tweet was very nasty, it's important to note that it is also false. In response, she gets absolutely annihilated on Twitter.
This isn't the first time Milano sent out a mean-spirited tweet in the direction of the NRA. Who could forget this gem she tweeted in 2017?
Doesn't our children's safety mean more than your right to own weapons that can kill on a mass scale? Fuck you, @NRA.
— Alyssa Milano (@Alyssa_Milano) October 2, 2017
This time she makes the claim that the NRA doesn't care about anything but profit.
The NRA doesn’t care about the American people, it’s members or our troops. They care about profit. #NoRA https://t.co/6qthHnPRxG

To try to give her argument some legitimacy, she quoted a Business Insider article from 2013 in her next tweet. The article was written by Walter Hickey, who knows writes for Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight.

So the NRA doesn't care about veterans? Also, they only care about profit, despite being a non-profit organization.
Per Daily Wire:
The NRA Foundation has given $61 million to a variety of local groups since 2010; 500 schools received more than $7.3 million from 2010 through 2016; 4-H groups have received $12.2 million since 2010, and Boy Scout troops and councils received $4 million.
As far as not caring about veterans, try again: the NRA has worked with Congress to support the Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act, and more recently, the Mental Health and Safe Communities Act.
There was some serious outrage directed toward Milano after her rant:
Check your facts, NRA is a non-profit organization. Does not sell guns, or ammo. Teaches gun safety. NO NRA member has committed a mass shooting.

Vet here. I care about them so much I am a lifetime member, and I know they care about me because they offer a separate membership for us, and for first responders.
You're way off base Milano. Go drunk, you're home...

I think we are all so lucky someone who isn’t educated and whose career is a failure has money to be a hypocrite and afford Armed security which has nothing to do with gun safety. The nra membership is also certified present. #loserslyssa

Fact: NRA helped Black Americans defend themselves vs Democrat segregationist & KKK harassers. #Schneiderman #MeToo

They care and do more for America than you or any other Hollywood person will ever do combined. I’m sure you can ask your armed body guard. He’s probably a member.

Really? I'm a lifetime member and a veteran. You use the word veteran in your post as if you really give a damn about us but you don't, you're simply trying to validate a point that isn't valid in any way shape or form. B4 u post, know who the NRA members actually are. #smh

Next time, Alyssa, just keep your mouth shut.
