English actor Sacha Baron Cohen is attacking Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for allegedly "enabling" Donald Trump. He claims that Trump would not currently be President of the United States if not for the social media outlet.
“[The internet] allows people who are spreading lies to actually seem like they’re legitimate — and what’s the effect of somebody who’s kind of spreading lies with these new means of proliferating Twitter?” Cohen ranted.
“Trump, without Twitter, probably would not have become president, which is why Jack Dorsey is in the White House having a meeting with Trump,” he continued, “So, what’s fascinating about that is — [Dorsey’s] sitting opposite the president, who is actually the biggest celebrity endorser of his corporation.”
In a sense, I agree with Cohen. Not the part about Trump being racist or corralling "white supremacists" and spreading lies. However, I do think it would have been harder for Trump to be elected if he did not have the freedom of Twitter.
In general, we rely on the media to let us know what is going on. However, we have become increasingly aware of the fact that the media lies and contorts the truth to fit their agenda. We saw first hand just how they tried to deceive Americans during the last election, by painting Hillary Clinton as a saint and making us believe that Trump was behind on polls. When, in fact, Trump was ahead and Clinton was the bad guy.
“Trump, without Twitter, probably would not have become president, which is why Jack Dorsey is in the White House having a meeting with Trump,” insisted Baron Cohen, “So, what’s fascinating about that is — [Dorsey’s] sitting opposite the president, who is actually the biggest celebrity endorser of his corporation.”
Cohen ranted on that Dorsey doesn't ban the so-called racists from Twitter because,“If they get rid of the racists, they’re going to have less Twitter subscribers."
He added that Twitter is not a place for free speech....which I must also agree with considering Conservatives get banned left and right for simply sharing facts or stating their opinions that do not go along with the liberal logic.
“In society, you know, we want to be biased against those who want to kill people like you and people like me,” Cohen continued, “It’s okay to not give those people, who want to murder people for being different, absolute rights.”
“We’re living in a dangerous society now,” the Borat actor said, “We’re living in a society where the space that we grew up in — which is the idea that society is getting better, where black people can get full rights, they can vote, where people are equal despite their differences — that concept is being disintegrated.”
“Democracy is being disintegrated, and that’s terrifying for me,” Cohen concluded, “and I’m going to say all of this with a caveat that I’m a comedian, I don’t really know what I’m talking about, but this is just the stuff that’s going on in my head.”
It sounds to me like Cohen has been listening to CNN just a little too much. His opinions are mostly far fetched, and he paints a picture that Americans are mostly racists and white supremacists. Does racism exist? Sure it does. Do white supremacists exist? Sadly. However, did you know that there are actually more transgenders in our country than white supremacists? You won't hear about that in liberal media though.
