Trump Overcomes: After Cohen, Manafort News Polls Near Record-High

According to the latest poll from NBC News/Wall Street Journal, President Trump’s poll results are nearing a record high even after the Cohen, Manafort news.

The same poll was taken before the news on Cohen and Manafort broke. At that point Trump was at 46% approval and 51% disapproval. The same people were polled in the days following when the Cohen/Manafort news broke. While the media was screaming “impeach!” there was no real shift in the poll. It had a slight shift to 44%/52%.

President Trump had the approval/disapproval backwards in a tweet.

For this particular poll, 46% is a record high. Despite the media completely assaulting President Trump, he has managed to rise in the approval ratings. Now the media is attacking Trump for not acknowledging the death of McCain. The only issue is he has paid his respects to McCain multiple times.

More, per NBC News:

Between Aug. 18 and Aug. 22 — the day after the news involving former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former Trump attorney Michael Cohen — the president’s approval rating stood at 46 percent approve, 51 percent disapprove.

In a separate NBC/WSJ survey, conducted Aug. 22 through Aug. 25, Trump’s approval rating was 44 percent approve and 52 percent disapprove. That’s within the poll’s margin of error.

Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies, who conducted this survey with Democratic pollster Peter Hart and his team at Hart Research Associates, called Trump’s approval rating “remarkably stable” despite the Manafort and Cohen developments, both of which became public on the same afternoon last Tuesday.

Hart added that, for Democrats hoping to craft a midterm election strategy, the week’s news thus far “represents a fool’s-gold opportunity rather than a silver-bullet solution.”

Despite NBC News painting this as potential “fool’s gold” for the left, this represents a bigger picture. The public no longer takes the news networks at their word. They don’t factor in the nonsense they spew (as much) when they are thinking about their approval of the president.

Trump’s approval rating is even higher among Republicans.
