Jerry Jones Says Players Will Stand For The Anthem, Players Are On Board

More than once Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, has made it a point to mention his players will stand for the anthem. Most recently, the Cowboys players have confirmed what Jones demands: they will continue to stand for the national anthem.

“He’s the boss. That’s above my pay grade,” Cowboys defensive end Taco Charlton said after wrapping up Thursday night’s practice. “He said he wanted us to stand up. I don’t have a problem with that. I understand where he’s coming from. I respect what he says. I have no problem with it.”

Then you have the left, who is up in arms because Jerry Jones wants his players to stand for the anthem. Charlotte Clymer now hates the Cowboys because they have a “white supremacist” owner.

Michael Knowles of Daily Wire gave his thoughts on Clymer’s reaction:

“How exhausting it must be to be on the Left,” said Knowles after reading Clymer’s quote. “How utterly exhausting it must be to have everything because you can’t just stop, you can’t stay at your regular normal stasis level of outrage. You have to get progressively more outraged, so now the suggestion is that respecting the flag is racism, white supremacism, hateful cowardice blah blah blah. That voting for a judge, which our elected representatives have done for the whole history of the country, that’s complicity in evil and Satan and rah rah rah! Oh how exhausting.”

In the end, Knowles argued, the players are employees of the NFL, which is a massive entertainment company. The NFL is fully within its rights to require certain behavior for the good of its industry, and forbidding players to say or do things that damage that industry is not curbing their free speech rights.

While the other NFL owners are too scared to make a stand for their country, Jerry Jones lets his players know his his way or the highway.

Earlier this week Jones did say President Trump was playing too much of a role in the kneeling for the anthem. Despite this, Trump commended Jones for laying down the law with his team.
