CNN Loses Again, Falls Behind HGTV in Quarterly Ratings

For the 66th consecutive quarter, Fox News was the most-watched cable television network. Meanwhile CNN loses again, falling behind the Home and Garden Network and the Discovery Channel.

According to a report released by Nielsen Media Research on the second quarter of 2018, Fox was #1 when it comes to total day and primetime viewers. 10 of the top 15 shows in total viewers are on the network.

“Hannity” was the most watched cable news program, with 3,368,000 average viewers, far ahead of the 2,752,000 that tune in for MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show.”

Per Daily Caller:

Meanwhile, CNN sat at tenth for primetime behind networks like ESPN, HGTV, Investigation Discovery and History. In total viewers, CNN finished seventh behind Nickelodeon and HGTV, among others.

In primetime, CNN didn’t even hit half as many viewers as Fox, managing just an average of 929,000 viewers.

Fox Business Network also bested competitor CNBC, marking its seventh consecutive quarter as the number one network in business news. Maria Bartiromo’s show “Mornings with Maria” outpaced CNBC’s “Squawk Box” for the first quarter ever.

Say what you want about President Trump, but he has certainly exposed CNN. From the big nothing burger to repeatedly reporting on fake news, they are certainly a network that is trending downward.
